4. Qualitative Study

As a follow-up to the SHAPES study, we carried out a research project to hear from pregnant women about their views and experiences of taking part in the different body measurements during early pregnancy. These measurements went beyond the usual BMI (body mass index), and the aim was to understand how acceptable this approach felt to women.

We spoke to 14 women who had previously taken part in SHAPES, making sure to include a range of ages, pregnancy histories, and body sizes. The interviews took place around 4 to 5 months after their measurement appointments.

The study has now finished, and the findings have been written up and are currently being reviewed for publication in a research journal.
